Legal Odyssey of John Demjanjuk's Case from the Perspective of the Public Opinion

Abstract

Abstract The aim of this work is to analyze Iwan Demjanjuk´s case from the public opinion´s perspective. For this purpose, I have checked and evaluated different magazine and newspaper articles, documentaries, blogs and television main worldwide broadcasts, in order to get a wide overview of the case, knowing which information had been provided to the public, and why his case awaked that many polarized emotions. A brief analysis of his life and his legal odyssey is necessary in order to understand the reasons why he was put on trial, his role in Operation Reinhard, and why he had so many defenders and detractors.
