Peer Review Process

European Journal of Education (EJED) adheres to a rigorous double-blind peer review process, ensuring the highest standards of academic integrity and quality. In this process, the identities of both reviewers and authors remain confidential throughout the evaluation. This method guarantees impartiality and fairness in the assessment of all submitted manuscripts.

1. Selection of Reviewers

  • Registration and Expertise: Prospective reviewers are required to register on the journal's online platform by submitting their CV. The Journal Editor evaluates their expertise in the relevant field before confirming their role as reviewers.
  • Criteria for Reviewers: Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, research experience, and expertise in the subject area of the manuscript.

2. Internal Review Process

  • Preliminary Assessment: Upon receipt of a manuscript, the Journal Editor conducts an initial evaluation to determine its suitability for the journal. If the manuscript meets the basic criteria, an initial acceptance letter is sent to the author, and the manuscript proceeds to the peer review stage.
  • Blind Review: The manuscript is assigned to a reviewer through the online platform. The reviewer evaluates the manuscript based on established guidelines and provides a detailed report.

3. Criteria for Reviewers

Reviewers are tasked with assessing the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Originality: The manuscript should present original research that contributes to the field.
  • Relevance: The manuscript should expand or further research in the subject area.
  • Structure: The manuscript must include all necessary sections: title, abstract, keywords, introduction, methodology, discussion, conclusion, and references.
  • Citation and References: References should be cited appropriately within the text, and the reference list should be complete and accurate.
  • Clarity and Quality: The manuscript should be clear, concise, and well-written. Reviewers may recommend shortening sections or improving the discussion where necessary.
  • Language Proficiency: The manuscript should be written in clear and professional English. Reviewers may recommend professional proofreading if needed.
  • Additional Data: Reviewers may identify sections that require additional data or highlight interesting findings that could be expanded upon.

4. Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers provide one of the following recommendations to the Journal Editor:

  • Accept and publish as is: The manuscript meets all criteria and requires no further revisions.
  • Accept and publish with minor revisions: The manuscript requires minor changes before publication.
  • Accept and publish with major revisions: The manuscript requires significant revisions but has the potential to be published after these changes are made.
  • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's standards and is not suitable for publication.

5. Communication and Revision

  • Reviewer Comments: Reviewers annotate their comments directly on the manuscript using Microsoft Word markups and submit this version via the online platform.
  • Author Feedback: The author receives the reviewed version, including the reviewer's comments and suggestions, for revision.
  • Revision Process: The author revises the manuscript based on the reviewer's feedback, tracking all changes made. The revised version is then resubmitted via the online platform.
  • Final Decision: The Journal Editor reviews the revised manuscript and decides whether to forward it to the production team for publication.

6. Transparency and Policies

  • Peer Review Statement: All content published in EJED is clearly marked as peer-reviewed. Peer review is defined as obtaining advice on individual manuscripts from reviewers who are experts in the field and are not part of the journal's editorial staff.
  • No Guarantee of Acceptance: EJED does not guarantee manuscript acceptance or very short peer review times. The review process is thorough and designed to ensure the publication of high-quality research.
  • Timeliness: While the journal strives to complete the review process in a timely manner, the duration may vary depending on the complexity of the manuscript and the availability of reviewers.

7. Publication of the Reviewed Paper

  • Final Approval: Once the manuscript is approved by the Journal Editor, it is forwarded to the production team for publication.
  • Open Access: Published articles are made freely available under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license, ensuring broad dissemination and accessibility.
