Abstract
This study seeks to understand the voice of the postgraduate student in overcoming the fear of research at a postgraduate level. The study aims to come up with guidelines for assisting postgraduate students to overcome the fear of research during their studies and develop social, emotional and intellectual wellness. Qualitative design and narrative approach were used in this study. The theoretical framework that guides the study is the African philosophies of Ubuntu and wellness (Hettler, 1980). Purposive sampling was used in getting the three participants for the study (Creswell & Creswell, 2017). Data is collected through interviews. Data analysis indicated that the three participants experienced fear in their research journey. A good relationship with the supervisor was of utmost importance to assist them in overcoming the fear of research and developing social, emotional and intellectual wellness.
